Mine isn’t anonymous but as far as I know most of my family doesn’t know about it. However my husband is a very private person and so I feel very censored which leads me not to write too much about anything, and so I guess what I’m trying to say is that I wish I had just kept it under wraps and could let my fingers fly. It’s tough, I know.

    Looking forward to the book.

I’m trying to be anonymous, but it’s hard. Mostly my site is anonymous because of vague references… And because I do not tell people I know about my site. I’m finding that I want to tell a few people, but then I’m afraid they might tell a few more… I’m having to hold myself back… It would be so much easier to have my friends just read the blog instead of emailing them the same information but worded differently.

I think we need to create an anonymous site for MANY people to publish to. There are some things that I don’t want to write because of the very few (all 3 of you) who know who I am. It’s not that they are bad, but they are some of my inner most thoughts and I can’t bring myself to share them. I can’t even bring myself to write about my mother and how she has shaped me and that was part of the point of the blog…

I want to record my early experiences and things my mother did for my girls’ sake. I want them to know what what shaped me. It’s so weird though, when I think about some of the experiences, I realize that some of them made me more sensitive to other people’s feelings. I wouldn’t be the same person today if she hadn’t said/done some of the things she did. I like me.

Anyway, being completely anonymous would be more fun, but I think you’d run out of material fairly soon… or at least I would… hence my idea for an anonymous site where people could submit posts (anonymously) and a person or group of people could publish them. I really like http://www.postsecret.blogspot.com/ … It gives people an anonymous voice.

    Okay, I’ve rambled enough.

  4. JK says:

Yea… probably 97% of what I write is suitable for my mother to read… And she’d enjoy reading about her grandchildren… I’ve thought about 2 blogs, but that would just get tricky… sort of like 2 boyfriends… (remember back when I’d do that? I just would keep them in different cities… Did they count as boyfriends if it was all virtual?)

Hi, JK! This is an interesting question.

Using my real name definitely curtails what I can write about. For instance, my son just went to his first dance and I was DYING to write about it, but he moaned and groaned just about me taking pictures! I could only imagine what he’d do if I wrote about him!

Not that it would matter. At first I thought all my family and friends would read every entry obsessively, but it turns out not even my mother bothers to check it out. My neighbors could care less! Occasionally one of the family will visit and comment, but only because Hubby calls them and tells them to visit.

For those who want to remain anonymous, the easiest way is through a service like Blogger or WordPress.com. Nobody will ever know who you are! You can write about anything you want.

That’s what Miss Snark does. They’ll need a court order to ferret her out, if that’s even possible, because Blogger and WordPress.com do not require identifying info. As long as users don’t give out any recognizable details, they’ll be safely anonymous.

    I hope you don’t get listeria again… that’s awful!

  7. Ay, yi, yi! Sorry about the double post! Delete! DELETE!

When I hit the submit button I got a page full of WordPress errors, so I assumed it didn’t take because of the URL. So I hit it again. Sorry!

  8. Manic Mom says:

I made the initial virgin mistake of making my blog address my real name. And the other virgin mistake of telling not only my mother about it, but ALSO my mother in law.

Now I’m restricted in saying really ANYTHING very good or juicy, like how I fantasize about sending anonymous mail to my ex’s wife! You know, the one with the really small penis!
